These days when it comes to options for pendant lights we are spoilt for choice! But, there are so many options out there that it’s almost like there are too many and the somewhat simple search becomes overwhelming. Which one shall i choose? Which style should i go for? What colour? Big or small? And on and on and on…. Argh! Then to top it all off because you have just spent the last 3 hours searching online and getting carried away you’ve now ended up on some foreign website with a pendant that you love and…… they won’t ship to NZ… sigh! 🙁
So to stop the stress, because let’s face it life is already too busy for us all I have created a quick list of 9 great pendants to suit a variety of rooms and design styles that CAN be bought here in little old NZ.
#1 Cubie – from Lightplan / Viso
I had to put these as number 1 because I actually love them myself. Which surprised me because ‘Cubie’ is more of a contemporary style and personally i’m into a little more of a modern / retro mix but I think it’s the shape and the colour combo that got me hooked. These glass pendants come in Amber, Smoke and Clear and are stunning enough to be hung singularly or as a cluster. You can check them out here. Although these lights are available for purchase from Lightplan they are designed and manufactured in Canada by Viso. Check out there awesome lights and website here.
#2 Milk Bottle Pendants – from Retro Lights
A soft white aluminium and wood combination makes these easy to hang in loads of different rooms with lots of different colours. This style and colour combo is definitely Scandinavian but this particular option can be coloured up to your choice. These wooden pendants would look great clustered above a dining table like the picture above but would look just as cool above side tables in the bedroom. You could go a little asymmetrical and choose two different shapes because there are three to choose from! You can check them out here.
#3 Huey, Deway and Louie – from Noozi
Huey, Deway and Louie – basically what’s not to love? These cute little concrete pendants are simple and striking all at the same time. I would say these would suit a contemporary and or/ minimalist style and would look funky in a bathroom or over a kitchen bar/ island! Because they are small i would recommend using more than one but you could either mix the shapes or keep them all the same. You can check them out here.
#4 Amadeo – from Lightplan
This is also a personal favourite! The Amadeo light is a handcrafted metal pendant and comes in both white and black with a gold leaf inside. This style would work well in an industrial setting and because of their size you could get away with just one! I love the warmth the gold leaf inside brings. You can check this out here.
#5 NUD copper – from Mr Ralph
A raw copper and edison bulb combination is very on trend right now. This style would also work well in an industrial setting but equally as cool in a contemporary styled space. Because they are small these would look great clustered together in a group or lined up one by one at the same or different heights. The copper pendant and colour of the edison bulb will help bring a nice light warmth to any space as well. You can check them out here.
#6 Cumulus – from Mr Ralph
A fun geometric shape and a great way to bring in colour! These natural plywood pendants come in a range of colours and sizes and would look great in any minimalist or Scandinavian influenced spaces. Similar to the Noozi Copper pendant these would look great in clustered bunch or lined up in different sizes, colours and heights. But they could also look great just in an asymmetrical pair somewhere in a room. You can check them out here.
#7 Mush – from Ecc
The ‘Mush’ is brass and glass pendant combo and because of their unique shape and style look great hung solo. These come in black or brass and would work wonders in a quirky contemporary space. You can check this out here.
#8 Ori – from Eden Light
I discovered these only the other day and I think that might have been where the inspiration for this blog post started to be honest. These three metal pendant shapes look really cool flat against the wall and they almost resemble some kind of cool piece of art! They would work with any rustic or Scandinavian styled space and would look equally as cool in more of a clustered group. You can check them out here.
#9 Copper Bronze Shade – from Ecc
Simple, sophisticated and striking. Need i say more? This is a classic pendant option and with its combination of copper and bronze shades it will bring warmth and style to any space. The sphere shape is almost a little retro but the shine and colour are very contemporary. It’s strong enough to be used solo but could be paired or even set in a three.
I would love to know your thoughts on the list above and whether there might be something among them just right for you or maybe something you think i’ve missed! Either leave me a comment below or send me an email on firstname.lastname@example.org
Have a nice weekend 🙂
